・・・その中の“コンタクトレンズセミナー”を担当するように」という指示がくだった。寝耳に水の話で、そのような大役を授かったことが嬉しくもあったが、それよりも当時の実力ではたしてその大役を全うできるのだろうかという不安のほうが大きかった。そこで、サンコンタクトレンズ社の大橋敏夫社長にお願いして、ハードコンタクトレンズの製作を研修させて頂くことになった。ポリメチルメタクリレートのボタンから１枚のハードコンタクトレンズを製作する過程はとても複雑で、不器用な私に何人もの社員の方から各過程を親切に手ほどきして頂いた。3ヶ月ほどするうちに、どうにか私にも1個のボタンから1枚のコンタクトレンズを製作できるようになった。そうなると面白いもので、それまでとフルオレセインパターンの見方がまったく異なってしまった。さまざまなハードコンタクトレンズに対する苦情があっても、その原因を考察する思考の組み立て方が自然に身についてしまったのである。・・・（「序文」から引用） |
